Badge, metal, Clare Militia, probably from helmet
Badge, metal, Clare Militia, probably worn on the helmet. Badge is in shape of seven-pointed star in the centre of which are two ornate letters, definitely the letter “R” and possibly the letter “V” (before the R, reading VR). Around the letters is a circular band with the words Clare Militia, Clare above and Militia below.
Donated to the de Valera Library museum in 1980s, transferred to Clare Museum in summer 2000. Found on a building site at College Grove, Ennis.
