Buckle, copper alloy, figure of eight or spectacle type
Buckle, copper alloy, double loop figure of eight or spectacle type buckle, frame and pin cast in one piece, tongue missing. Lobes present at outer edge of each loop in the form of three conjoined semi-circles.
One of several medieval buckles put up for sale on an online auction site by a Clare antique dealer. Reported by the National Museum of Ireland and Clare Museum subsequently took possession of them on the assumption they are of Clare origin.
