Caravan, model

Handcrafted model of Travellers’ caravan made of wood, with green rubber or plastic roof, on wheels
This is a model of a traditional ‘barrel-top’ caravan used in the past by the Traveller population of Ireland as a home and as a means of transport.
It was handcrafted by young members of an Irish traveller family, the McDonagh’s, and was deposited at the Museum with the aid of Maura Fennell of Clarecare.
Clarecare was established in 1968 to provide local services to families in County Clare.
