Dr Moosajee Bhamjee was born in South Africa in 1947 and came to Ireland as a student at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
In the 1992 General Election he was elected TD for the Labour Party for Clare. He was Ireland’s first Muslim TD.
His connection to Clare is through his wife who is from Cooraclare.
