Certificate, framed and glazed, from Gormanstown Internment Camp, dated 1923
Certificate, framed and glazed, from Gormanstown Internment Camp, dated 1923. Wooden frame, dark brown in colour, with gold coloured bevelled edge surrounding glass. The certificate is surrounded by a narrow brown and broader white mounting board. The certificate has evenly spaced punched holes all around the perimeter, this was done by the donor’s brother who had the certificate contained in a plastic pocked with coloured plastic threaded through these holes. The donor removed the plastic and had the certificate framed. The certificate is off-white in colour with a pale green Art Deco style border inside the edge. This border contains the following text: “GORMANSTOWN INTERMENT CAMP./EDUCATION BOARD./CERTIFICATE./MEMBERS OF BOARD: MESSRS. FRANK GALLAGHER (Chairman); MATHEW NEILAN, N.T. (Headmaster); JAS. COTTER (Director of Special Classes); JAS. KIELY, N.T. (Director of Irish Studies); RICHARD TIERNEY, N.T. (Secretary to board); PATRICK J. WARD (Secondary Teacher); SEAN T. O CEALLAIGH, T.D.; JOHN LYNCH, B.A. (Hons.) N.U.I.; J. CRIPPS (Member of Societe Internationale Philologie, etc.); RICH. MACDERMOTT; F.J. COGLEY; THOS.
