In 1927, Newmarket-on-Fergus senior hurlers completed three Clare County Hurling Championships titles in a row.
John Joe ‘Goggles’ Doyle played at left back and represented Clare from 1926 to 1938. He was the captain of the Clare team beaten in the 1932 All-Ireland Hurling Final by Kilkenny.
