Device for tightening bed springs, metal, handle at one end and open end to receive bolt
Metal implement, has tapered handle at one end at angle to length of implement, at the top is a circular piece which has a 6-sided opening (bolt-shaped). This was attached to a bolt on the side of the bed frame and the handle turned in order to tighten bed springs. This particular implement has the number ‘2’ engraved on the longest side just beneath the bolt opening, suggesting that there were different numbers of these implements used on the bed, or perhaps it refers to the size of the bolt, different ones being used on different beds.
