Headed paper, The Presbytery, Ennis, for Frank Butler, 27 February, 1924. Reads: ‘ I certify that the bearer – Mr Frank Butler – comes of good parents and for two years and more previous to 1922 during which I knew him was a young man of good character. However, I post it necessary to state that in the year 1922 he was interned because of his connection with the irregular campaign. John (illegible) Adm.’
Found in Frank Butlers family home at Station Road, Ennis. Frank was a member of the Mid-Clare Brigade IRA during the Irish War of Independence.
