Clare County Council received a delegation from the city of Clare, Michigan on 22nd September, 2004. The Grand Marshall of the delegation, Ms Jane Sartor, presented the Deputy Mayor Cllr Flan Garvey with this tri-colour which had been proudly displayed in Michigan for the previous 15 years. Cllr Garvey requested that the flag be presented to Clare Museum.
The American city of Clare is located in centre of the lower peninsula of Michigan, and lists Ennis as a Sister City since 1986. It has a population of 3,200 (2020).
