Carroll/Foresters Club/Ennis./Dear Sir, We are in receipt to-day of your letter/dated 5th, and in reply beg to say the letter of the/27th. of August to which you refer did not reach us./In our quotation of the 24th. of August we offered you/a wagon load of coal at 49/- per ton, and in the same/letter we told you we could not book coal for forward/delivery over the Winter. By a fortunate coincidence/we had the particular coal that we offered you on the/24th. of August discharging at Waterford on the 1st. of/December, and we arranged with Mr Mc.Namara, who wrote us/on the matter, to send you a wagon at 49/-. The other/two tons were delivered to you from our Clare Castle/store and this is more costly than delivering direct” (continues on second page) “from wagon from Ennis Station. Again these two tons were different from the wagon load, and our a/c./therefore, as furnished is perfectly correct. However,/the small sum in dispute is a very trifling matter/and though not entitled to it we have much pleasure/in allowing it to you. You may deduct 6/- therefore,/when remitting./Yours faithfully,”. Signature is contained within a rectangular “For Suttons Limited” stamp and is difficult to read, possible “J. Moore” or “Moore”.
