Medal, military, bronze, Africa Star, six-pointed star, yellow, navy, red and blue ribbon
Africa Star bronze medal, fashioned in the shape of a six-pointed star, ribbon with pin. Obverse: Crown with the legend The Africa Star GRJ VI. Reverse: Blank. Ribbon: Red band with two bands of yellow on left divided by narrow band of light blue, and yellow band on right divided by narrow band of dark blue.
The objects were originally awarded to the donor’s aunt, Josephine Canny of Mountshannon, Co. Clare, who was a nurse in the Queen Alexandra Nursing Corps.
She was awarded this medal, the Africa Star, for service in North Africa during the Second World War.
