Medal, music or dance, gold, 1903 Feis an Chlair. Obverse: Raised crest shape enclosed within oval engraved belt which has extended decorative parts at the four cardinal points, that at the top ending in a shamrock above which emerges a suspension loop with a jump ring attached. Reverse: Engraved inscription in centre – Feis an Chlair – 1903 – W.J. Conlon.
This 9ct Gold medal for Irish dancing was won by J Conlan (1890-1979) at Feis an Chlair in 1903. Mr Conlan, a well known Trade Union leader in Limerick, was a Linotype operator at the Limerick Leader.
The medal was supplied andor manufactured by Cooke’s Jewellers of Wexford, who once had a premises at 24 South Main Street in that town.
