New Zealand Operation Service Medal, miniature, awarded to Airman Daniel Joseph Lysaght, Royal New Zealand Air Force, with ribbon, with ‘Regular’ on clasp and black and white ribbion. Still in plastic cover.

Daniel Joseph Lysaght was born in Annagh, Miltown Malbay on 16th January, 1927, his father was a farmer. Daniel went to Annagh National School, but left education at 16 years of age. He emigrated to the UK to join the Royal Air Force and served 6 years and 10 months. He transferred to the Royal New Zealand Air Force in 1952 and went on to serve with the New Zealand force during the Malayan Emergency. He died of cancer while in the service on 20th August 1960 and was unmarried.

This medal was collected by donor, having discovered that Daniel Joseph Lysaght was his uncle and had served, while researching his family tree.
