Daniel Joseph Lysaght was born in Annagh, Miltown Malbay on 16th January, 1927, his father was a farmer. He went to Annagh National School, left school at 16 years and emigrated to the UK to join the Royal Air Force, where and served 6 years and 10 months.
He transferred to the Royal New Zealand Air Force in 1952 and went on to serve with the New Zealand forces during the Malayan Emergency.
He died of cancer while in the service 20th August 1960 and was unmarried.
This photograph was collected by the donor, having discovered that Daniel Joseph Lysaght was his uncle and a serviceman, while researching family tree.
