St Therese de Lisieux, known as the ‘Little Flower of Jesus’, was a French Catholic Carmelite nun. She is a popular and highly influential saint in Ireland as she is seen as a model of sanctity because of the simplicity of her faith. She died of TB in at the age of 24 in 1897 and was beatified in 1923. She was canonised a saint on 17 May 1925 and her feast day is the 1st October.

In 2001, the relics of St Therese toured Ireland between April and June and generated huge interest, even among Catholics who were no longer very religious. An RTE report about the tour is testament to the popularity of this saint during the Celtic Tiger era of materialism and prosperity. They returned to Ireland again in 2009 after the collapse of the economy and were equally popular.

This relic probably dates to the mid-20th century.
