Serviette, large, white with PAA and logo in each corner on obverse, clean. Signs of some mould on reverse. Identified by the donor as a serviette, its large size suggest if may be a tablecloth.
On 16th September 1945 the first transatlantic proving flight, a Pan-Am DC4, landed at Shannon from New York.
This serviette was collected by Joe Hardaker who was a refueller at Shannon Airport from the opening of the airport until 1968. He had previously worked at Foynes sea-plane base where he learned the technical skills of refuelling.
