Serviette

Serviette, supplied by Trans-Canada Airlines for its passengers.

*

Serviette, white with a blue band across its centre with Trans-Canada Airlines sown into it on one side of the cloth. Quite clean, unstained.

Trans-Canada Airlines was established in 1937 and was renamed Air Canada in 1965. It began flights from Montreal to Shannon in September 1947. This serviette was collected by Joe Hardaker who was a refueller at Shannon Airport from the opening of the airport until 1968. He had previously worked at Foynes sea-plane base where he learned the technical skills of refuelling.
