Set of Hiatt handcuffs, Royal Irish Constabulary, said to be for juveniles, from Kilrush RIC barrack (The Bridewell), key inserted, with ‘A Hiatt’ on it.

Try to imagine yourself as a young child, detained by the Royal Irish Constularly in these handcuffs. These would have been in use into the early 20th century, and perhaps much later, as they were collected by the donor from a fomer member of an Garda Siochána. They were used in Kilrush, County Clare.
