Small, from Clare Journal office, seeking payment, signed by J B Knox & Son, 25th February, 1903, reads:
‘Dear Sir, We beg to request your attention to the enclosed statement of your account, new due a considerable time. We shall be glad to have your cheque in settlement by return of post. Yours faithfully, J B Knox, Esq’.
This document came from the homestead in Feakle of the donor, John Holohan, whose grandfather was an auctioneer and valuer, public works contractor and clerk of the Scariff Union.
It dates to the first half of the 20th century.
