The Bottom Dog, No 27, 20th April 1918. Small newspaper, social leaning, related to Limerick Soviets, includes letter from Ernest Brown, Clonboy, O’Brien’s Bridge, County Clare; ‘Limerick Against Conscription’; ‘Tea Profiteering’; ‘Drombana Creamery Dispute’.

The Bottom Dog first appeared on October 20th, 1917 as Limerick’s first working-class paper. This weekly publication was written and circulated by some of the leaders of the Trades Council and continued for 48 editions to November 1st, 1918.

The donor, Kevin Rynne, came across this document in the family home following the death of his mother. It had been the property of his father Michael Rynne (1922-1975), and is believed to have been collected by him.
